About Pulphonics

We’re Pulphonics, pulp (a shapeless mass of material) and phonics (the science of giving meaning to sounds). Pul – Phonics.

About us, we’re musicians from Michigan. We started as a three-piece rock band in 2015, but have grown into something…different. We still embrace our rock and blues roots but have branched outside the parameters of rock and popular music to explore new soundscapes. Together, we write music for guitar, bass, synth and keys, drums, and, of course, vocals.

Since our formation in 2015, we’ve played many shows across Michigan, created music under a few names before becoming Pulphonics, and collaborated with Cold War Studies and Rick Johnson (Mustard Plug). Our first album release, “art is money,” launched April 7, 2023, and was immediately followed by the original score, “Hellfire Hades Attacks the 1980s (Original Soundtrack),” on October 23, 2023, for the film of the same title.

Our latest release, “Sonic Umami, Vol. 1” premiered August 2, 2024.
